Nasser MERABET is now certified as an International Law & European Union Law specialist

On 28 November 2016, Nasser MERABET passed a formal examination to become certified as a specialist lawyer in International Law & European Union Law.

In France, lawyers are allowed to take this specialty examination only if they meet objective criteria related to the duration (at least 4 years of experience) and focus (experience gained must be in the subject field covered by the exam taken) of their professional practice.

The specialty exam consists in a 1-hour interview where the examination board, which includes four law practitioners in activity, assesses the applicant’s skills and experience, then awards a grade out of twenty to the applicant. Examination Board members are appointed by the President of the French National Bar Council (CNB) and must in any case include: two lawyers who hold the specialty certificate sought by the examinee; one law professor active in the subject field covered by said certificate; and one judge to an ordinary court or one member of an administrative court or an administrative court of appeal.

The International Law & European Union Law certificate is the second specialty certificate granted to Nasser MERABET, who had also become certified as specialist lawyer in Trade Law, Business Law & Competition Law on 25 April 2016.

As a reminder, the International Law & European Union Law specialty covers in particular: Disputes regarding international trade relationships, wrongful termination, delayed delivery, product defects; Arbitration and mediation proceedings; European Union law, Disputes and actions brought before EU courts; Cross-border distribution / commercial agency / franchising / licensing contracts.
